Hi, I’m Meg Niman
I spent 17 years designing and shipping technology products at LeapFrog, Tellme, Microsoft/Xbox, Fitbit, NIO, Lighthaus (educational VR), and IndeVets.
I know product design and user research. I have experience working at small startups (4th hire), growing companies, and massive corporations. In all these professional situations, I found myself looking for more meaning in life.
Enter personas.
While building a successful consulting business in Philadelphia, I wielded the power of personas in contract negotiations and new leadership roles.
I have Dee, Chloe, Earnestine, The Troll, Megalamaniac, and Logitor, to name a few. I continue to work with personas to expand my leadership within The Persona Project.
Prior to my tech adventure, I taught elementary school in San Jose with Teach For America and have a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I graduated Wellesley College with a degree in Cognitive Science with a focus in Psychology.
I am a creative person who took a sabbatical to travel the US in an RV with my wife and dog and made a short film inspired by the whole affair. I’m also a certified 200-hour yoga teacher, a fun-loving community musician, and a local hiker.
What IS The Persona ProJect?
How it started
Before the pandemic, I had a confluence of events that changed my life.
In 2018, I:
Got divorced
Was let go from a job
Moved across the country
These events were the catalyst for years of discovery about my personas, which has expanded to The Persona Project, exploring how new personas can help each of us.
Where it’s going
I’m on a mission to make life a little easier for people. To bring awareness and mindfulness to our lives in playful ways. To give us permission to try new things with curiousity and creativity.
